Camping
Pictured here is a photo of Gary & his mare, Ashleigh, taken in 2006 at the Benchmark
Campground in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
Our critters love overnighters. It gives them more one-on-one personal time with us.
They need us to take them to water. They sleep next to us at the trailer or high-lined at
camp, or they can watch our every move from the portable, solar electric paddock that
we sometimes tote with us. They get to eat as much as they want at night (as long as
they don't have to pack it in themselves). Like people, they love the experience of
getting to go to new places.
There's something in it for us too. The peace and stillness and sense of being close to
God that you get when standing next to your horse as he grazes while you stare at the
horizon. The world would definitely be a better place if we could all experience the joy
and peace of being in the Wilderness with a good horse...
